Joined May 12, Messages 84, Update: I even did the whole "Take off the screen to see if the webcam thing is lose". Doing a factory reset is a pretty drastic step to take, just because the built-in webcam isn't working. You'll have several hours of work afterwards to bring the Windows operating system up-to-date and to reinstall all your desired programs.

You might consider buying and using an external USB "Logitech" webcam - which will probably give you better video and audio than the built-in one. A factory reset is a software solution. You probably have a hardware problem since you are told no webcam detected.

I'll repeat, you don't solve a hardware problem with a software solution. I agree with Frank. Skip the reset, buy a USB camera and solve the hardware problem with a piece of new hardware. You tried a hardware solution - looking at the webcam wires and saw nothing out of place. Thank you both, I really appreciate your help. It's unfortunate that it couldn't get resolved.
