You can approve legit trackbacks and pingbacks like you would moderate comments. I find that a LOT of people believe that, but it is not true. If you get a pingback, and look to edit it in the edit comments window, you will see that there is in fact an excerpt there. Almost no themes will allow it to display, but it is there just the same.
